Graduated in Medicine and Surgery. Postgraduate in Geriatrics.
A PhD in Applied Physiology and Pathophysiology and a PhD in Ultrasonology at the University of Bologna.
After obtaining his degree in Medicine, he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Hormonal Laboratory of the Hospital Clinic of the University of Barcelona (under Dr. W Jimenez supervision).

Since 2007, he has worked at the University of Bologna where he currently holds the role of Associate Professor of the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences (DIMEC).
He was co-founder of Mysurable, an academic spin-off that deals with systems for screening, diagnosis and frailty management and loss of muscle mass linked to ageing.
Director of the Graduate School in Geriatrics at the University of Bologna.
He is Director of Internal Medicine, Frailty and Aging department at the Santa Maria delle Croci Hospital in Ravenna.
In the project, he is Scientific Contact for the University of Bologna. He is the coordinator of Specific objective 2 and responsible for the Case Study on the effects of green and blue areas on elderly people with frailty, with particular reference to the areas of Ravenna.
