Graduated in Biological Sciences, Specialization in Applied Genetics, PhD abroad in Genetics, specifically in human cytogenetics. She is an expert in toxicology, cancer risk assessment, toxicogenomics, hygiene and nutrition.

As healthcare manager, over the last 35 years she has held positions of responsibility for laboratories, simple and complex structures, initially with the National Institute for Cancer Research and then in the Regional Agency for Prevention, Environment and Energy of Emilia –Romagna region (Arpae). Previously, she was a researcher at the National Research Council. She is a professor of Environmental Hygiene and Applied Hygiene at the University of Bologna where, over the last 30 years, she has also held teaching positions in various post-graduate courses. She is member of national and international working groups oriented towards the toxicological evaluation of chemical mixtures, the integration of international guidelines and validation of toxicological protocols and tests.
She is part of the President’s Council of the Society for Science Advancements and is a member of several scientific societies.
She is author of 130 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has more than 300 participations in conferences, of which more than 100 as a speaker.
In the project, she is Scientific Contact for Arpae and co-coordinator of Specific Objective 2.
