The Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology and Cancer Registry Unit of DEP Lazio directed by Paola Michelozzi is a research group that has been dealing with environmental and occupational epidemiology for over 20 years, it provides decision makers with the best scientific evidence available, to plan interventions for the reduction of environmental health exposure impacts.
Cosa facciamo
It carries out epidemiological surveillance and impact assessments activities related to environmental exposures (extreme temperatures, air pollution, emissions from industrial sites, noise, waste) and evaluations of climate change, air pollution and urban greenery health impacts through advanced tools such as space-time models and data dimensionality reduction method to estimate exposure and vulnerability of population.
It is the Center of Expertise of the Department of Civil Protection for the prevention of heat-waves effects and coordinates the National Operating Plan for the prevention of heat effects of the CCM Ministry of Health.
Contributi
Coordination of physical activity promotion in Rome in collaboration with the Municipality and ASL Roma 1 (Specific Objective 2) and analysis of the promotion activity in schools, which are part of the intervention as information and training activities (Specific Objective 4).
